Moving from low earth orbit (LEO) Amateur Radio FM Satellites to Linear Satellites has been a great experience, and I have learnd so much new and interesting things since my first portable FM Satellite QSO in January 2021 when I was using my Kenwood TH-D72 handheld and the Arrow Dual Band Yagi antenna.

Now I am out in the field almost every day, working Amateur Radio FM and Linear Satellites and with that getting some good practice before I start Roving in Scandinavia.

I’m a proud member of AMSAT, and I upload every Satellite contact to LoTW by the end of the day I’ve been out in the field.

This is my new Portable Satellite Sation. It’s built around two Yaesu FT-818nd HF/6M/VHF/UHF 6W All-mode Transceivers, and a Bienno Power 12V 8Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate battery.

A Comet CF-4160J 1.3-170Mhz 350-540Mhz Duplexer is inline, to help prevent the transmitter signal to overloading the receive radios front-end.

I’m using a Heil BM-17 headset, and VOX operation which is working great. For field-logging, I’m using a Sony ICD-PX470 Stereo Digital Voice Recorder. The bag is from Amazon type basic large DSLR gadget bag, together with a MonthSir dual camera shoulder strap.
