I am home again after a wonderful multi-day ski mountaineering expedition in the great Vätsäri Wilderness Area located along the northeastern shore of Lake Inari in Inari, northern Finland, where the main goal was to activate the SOTA summit OH/MU-026 Surnupäät and SOTA summit OH/MU-027 Nammivaara.
I also wanted to activate the World Wide Flora & Fauna LAFF-024 Øvre Pasvik National Park in Norway, and the Three-Country Cairn which is the point where the international borders of Norway, Finland and Russia meets.
I am very glad that I was able to reach my goal and managed to activate all areas and summits, and I was using my Elecraft KX3 Transceiver 5W with 2x12V 8Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery, a Feather 20W Solar Panel, a HyEndFed Multi-Band Wire antenna 40M-20M-10M, and a Buddistick Multi-Band vertical antenna.
The band condx. was just terrible almost the whole trip because of a very strong Aurora, but now and then the band suddenly got better and I was able to work some stations.
I had great winter weather and good ski conditions the whole trip, and this is true wilderness with great nature and wildlife experiences.
I would like to thank all chasers and spotters for a great experience, and I am really looking forward to my next SOTA & WWFF Multi-day Ski Mountaineering Expedition, and I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy easter.
